Breaching Humpback Whale Whale Watching Byron Bay AustraliaWe have had some glorious weather over the last couple of weeks with calm seas and blue skies.  This has resulted in some amazing humpback whale encounters plenty activity including breaching, tail throwing and very close encounters.

There are still quite a few whales heading north many of them most are most likely  pregnant females heading for the tropical birthing grounds.  We have also encountered quite a few mothers with calves born early (most calves are born north of here).

Many of the whales are now heading south after already having visited their northern breeding grounds on the Great Barrier Reef.  This should continue through September , October and well into November.
