Quick Details
This workshop offers a unique opportunity to learn about, swim alongside and help protect sea turtles in one of Australia’s oldest and most diversely beautiful marine sanctuaries, Nguthungulli Julian Rocks (NJR), which is home to more than 1000 marine species.
During this workshop, you will learn to identify the local sea turtle species and how to interact with them correctly. It is informative and engaging, covering topics including ecology, biology and the critical roles sea turtles play in our ecosystems.
After being immersed in all this knowledge, we will embark on a thrilling snorkelling adventure at the marine reserve. Here, you will have the opportunity to assist our scientific team by learning how to photograph turtles in their natural environment. Collecting valuable photo-identification data is essential for our scientific work to monitor, protect, and better understand them.
