WHALE WATCHING BYRON BAY
Whale Watching Byron Bay offers small, personalised eco-tours, departing directly from Byron Bay. Join us in exploring the incredible Byron Coastline whilst witnessing the annual humpback whale migration from the front-row view of our adventure boats. Humpback whales, dolphins, turtles, and a variety of amazing sea birds await you on a tour with Whale Watching Byron Bay, the area’s original and most unique whale watching experience.
Our whale watching vessel is a purpose built RIB, offering 360º views, allowing all guests to experience all the action, all the time! Our vessel allows for a maximum of 12 passengers per tour, ensuring a small and personalised experience for all on board.
Through an association with the Southern Cross University’s Whale Research Centre, Whale Watching Byron Bay is assisting in the collection of a variety of research data relating to the annual humpback whale migration.

PERRY
Managing Director / SKIPPERWith 23 years experience as a skipper and dive instructor and over 15 years running and managing the Dive Centre, Perry really knows his stuff. Whether it’s a regulator repair, teaching first aid or driving a boat, Perry’s got it covered.
With extensive experience in the emergency service field, Perry has high attention to detail and is very safety focused, making the Dive Centre’s policies and procedures second to none. When Perry’s not at the Dive Centre you can find him disco dancing, eating well and jogging with his friends.
KAINE
HEAD SKIPPER / PADI + SSI Instructor / Freediving InstructorKaine is inspired by the underwater world and is both an excellent freediving and scuba diving instructor.
He is a highly knowledgeable and well-trained skipper, instructor and likes to think of himself as a comedian on the side.
With his easy going manner you are sure to have a great time with Kaine!
MATT
Skipper / Senior SSI & PADI Instructor / Freediving InstructorMatt is Byron born and bred, having spent his life in and around the ocean. He fell in love with diving at the age of 14. His passion and love for the ocean grows everyday, evident in his constant enthusiasm.
Matt is sure to make you fall in love with the underwater world through his excellent scuba and freediving instruction or just his constant joy that is always floating around BBDC.
NICK
Skipper / SSI DivemasterNick has been with the Byron Bay Dive Centre and Whale Watching from 2017, where he started his time with us as a divemaster intern. Since then he has completed his coxswain and now skippers our snorkel and whale vessels.
Nick has extensive knowledge in marine life and their habitats and has helped run a Wild Dolphin feeding program. With his passion in educating people about conservation strategies and his love of animals, photography and adventure, you are sure to have a whale of a time aboard his vessel!
ADDITIONAL STAFF
